Great city, terrible hotel.
The hotel is in a good location but this is the only positive. Upon arrival we quickly found out that the hotel was undergoing renovations, however, we were not informed of this prior to our stay and it meant that there was drilling and dust as you walked in. Moreover, despite there being a fine for smoking and or/tampering with the smoke alarm in hotel rooms, the first room we were given smelt of marijuana and there was a shower cap over the smoke alarm from previous guests. We were moved rooms when we complained about this but staff did not seem surprised by what we described. We were then given the room next door which smelt better but was still very disappointing on the whole as it was absolutely tiny and unclean. The hotel needs to be stricter on its policy of no smoking on the premises (including outside the main entrance as this was common and meant the entire lobby smelt of marijuana most of the time) as it is unpleasant and completely unacceptable. Overall, would not recommend staying here.
Hotel was having renovations directly below our room would start at 7.30 am drilling right below us not what we wanted for a relaxing weekend break! Hotel need to inform guests about this before check in as is ongoing for the next year!!!
This was our second time to stay here, the room we stayed in was awful, the front door is about 2 and a half foot from the head of our bed, which in turn is about 4 foot from the toilet, the room is tiny, uncomfortably small, and that's not the worst thing, our room is directly above a Constructiin site which has started working, as loudly as possible from 930 every morning, just don't rent the rooms out above this building site how desperate are you for income this has ruined the experiance and as mentioned before, we were return customers, will never step foot in here again.
Nice place for a short stay
The best thing about this hotel is location, location, location. Next to Rembrandt square it is perfect for a short term stay. Within walking distance of practically everything you would like to see in Amsterdam. The rooms are nice, cosy, simple... nothing special but clean, with a soft mattress and 2 nice big pillows. Breakfast was ok, enough choices for our 3 day stay, again basic but ok. As I said it didn't wow me, but also I have nothing really negative to say about it.
Our room was small compared to another room at the same price. Room quite dark/poor lighting. However overall happy would go back. Location for us was perfect. Most staff friendly. Nice facilities for tea/coffee, water on the room.
