Do not book a small double room - Terrible and not part of the Newley renovated rooms
When we arrived at the Eden Hotel in Amsterdam and checked into the room we were extremely dissatisfied with the room and where the room was located, room 515 at the very back of the hotel in what felt like the dregs of the hotel. The room was filthy, dark and gloomy and very very small. We felt as though we were put in a room that hadn’t been renovated as described on their and your website. The bathroom was a struggle for both my husband and I. We are both tall people and when sitting on the toilet (a toilet that would not flush) our knees were touching the wall, my husband could barely fit in the shower without having to bend down and try not to touch the dirty walls. There was mold on both the ceilings and walls. When I touched the shower head it was full of gunk. The cleanliness of the bathroom was disgustingly poor, with foundation on the towels, and fat residue (orange) around the sink and tiles. Even the hair dryer was full of dirt, not what I’d expect for a four star hotel. It felt more like a hostel room, falsely advertised on your website. I did not have time to take photos as we had to make up for the two days we had lost due to our flight being cancelled as mentioned above. I asked the hotel if they could do something about our room to which the only other option they had was to move us to a twin room which again wasn’t ideal for me and my husband as we were there for a romantic get away for his birthday. Also we didn’t get to the hotel until Sunday evening after 18:00 instead of Saturday morning and had excursions booked which we needed to be ready and out for. I think this hotel booking was very expensive for what we got and we didn’t have breakfast included. The coffee machine did not work in the room and we didn’t even have the daily housekeeping as stated on your website, I thought this was standard for any hotel? You state on your website that there is in-room climate control which didn’t work as I felt like I was waking up in a sauna on both mornings. There were no free toiletries or even designer toiletries as stated on your website's room description or pillow menu? We also asked the hotel for a surprise message for my husband as it was his birthday and they said they would sort something and we had a card stating free drink, the free drink was bottled water? Again not exactly amazing is it! I have stayed in many four star hotels and this was by far the worse one I have ever stayed in and I feel as though we were sold the renovated side of the hotel but was put in the old part of the hotel, in saying that even the upkeep of the renovated part of the hotel is non existent. For me to book with Love Holidays again I need to feel heard and have compensation for this very bad and stressful experience, this was my first booking with love holidays and it hasn’t been the best, it completely ruined it for my husbands birthday and our very first time in Amsterdam. I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
