3 nights in Amsterdam

We've just returned from a 3 night break to Amsterdam. The hotel is in a great location, on the Amstel and opposite the opera house. Everything is about a 20 minute walk and having the tram stop behind the hotel is a definite plus. Check-in wasn't very efficient- we booked 2 rooms but they were on different floors, we were not given directions to our room and had to go back to reception to ask the way and were given a twin when asked for a double. This was swiftly rectified. As we had booked a superior room we expected a better view but being realistic we did not come to Amsterdam to stay in the room! We returned after a full day out to find the room had not been serviced but assumed it was an oversight - apparently not. Your rooms get serviced every 3 days to be more eco friendly. We should have been told this on check in and this meant your room was not freshened up, bins emptied or coffees etc replenished. I wasn't bothered about fresh sheets or clean towels as we are clean people but this screams cost cutting and not trying to be greener! We slept really well in a comfortable bed and breakfast was excellent- the restaurant staff were really friendly and the variety of breakfast on offer will suit everyone. Don't go with someone you don't know very well - the bathrooms give you very little privacy from noises but saying that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Eden hotel.

Fantastic stay

Great hotel , very clean , huge comfortable bed . The bathroom was ,,,,, unusual ( frosted glass walls and not much in the way of soundproofing ) , but hey that’s just our typically English sensitivities around such things . The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and were also very smartly dressed , after all , this is Amsterdam ! Location- wise , fantastic for walking distance to all major attractions and a five minute walk away from Rembrandt Square with bars, restaurants and coffee shops . Only gripe was the view, if you are expecting a canal view from a Superior room you might end up with a panoramic view of the back of another part of the building but that’s a minor thing if like us, you’re out all day . Would definitely stay again but maybe ask for a room with a view .

Lovely hotel 10/10 from us :)

this was our first time in amsterdam and couldn’t of picked a better hotel. the staff are so lovely and friendly, the hotel is spotless and the rooms are gorgeous! we stayed on the ground floor but I think having a few doors to have to use your key to get through is excellent as made me feel extra safe. the hotel has a little shop inside, bar and a restaurant also inside. hotel is fairy central - about a 15/20 walk to most of the tourist attractions however you could also get the tram which is right outside the back of the hotel. The hotel also has public toilets which is great when you’ve checked out and waiting to go to the airport. We got the tram to central station which was €3.40 each and then the train from central station to the airport which works out miles cheaper than getting a taxi. The beds in the hotel are also really comfy which is great after a busy day of walking. Big walk in shower with great shower pressure for the thick hair girls. When we are planning our next trip to amsterdam we will definitely be staying at this hotel. Thank you for a great stay :)

Ideal location for first time visit to Amsterdam

First time visitors to Amsterdam and this hotel is in an ideal location, very central and easy to walk everywhere. A lovely hotel bar and a handy shop (although there is a great supermarket just down the road too which is probably better.) Disappointed with the lack of view from the bedrooms, we booked 2 x superior twins (adult children and parents) - were told that they would normally put rooms together but weren’t able to on this occasion so instead we were on the 3rd floor and the other room on the 5th. We were expecting a view, not to be internally facing - room smelled of food as we came in, seemingly due to the extractor fans outside the bedroom window. We did ask but no canal view rooms available. Just beware as these were supposedly Superior rooms. Booked via EasyJet holidays so maybe not as many room options? Rooms themselves are well equipped, good hairdryer, great TV, comfy beds (although mattress toppers on brown plastic mattresses is a bit weird, and they slip around a lot) with good pillows. The bathrooms are ridiculous - glass surround and double doors that barely shut let alone lock! Did not like the towels - definitely medium towels not bath towels and not enough for a 4 day visit. You can ask for more but no housekeeping until after 3 nights is all very well as long as you didn’t need to shower often as there isn’t enough time for the towels to dry! Maintenance were efficient when asked to fix a flickering light in the bathroom, and housekeepers are happy to give you additional supplies if you pass them in the corridor (which is just as well as toilet paper was not well stocked on arrival). Toilet brush was definitely unacceptable and should have been removed. Not impressed by that! Tea and coffee making facilities are good and appreciated (although milk would be useful, and the chocolate bars mentioned by reception on check in were disappointingly not evident in either room!). Surprised no mini fridge as there’s plenty of space for one and would be really useful. 12.00 check out is useful and gives time to get breakfast. We went outside of the hotel as there are plenty of places to choose from. We enjoyed ALOT of walking, an interesting visit to the Rijksmuseum, Dam Square, a canal cruise (highly recommended!), the Red Light District, flower market and some shopping. Don’t believe all you see on Instagram - several places were closed or full! We did enjoy lovely breakfasts at Brug34 round the corner though. Pleasant hotel staff and good service at the bar, which is nice to come back to in the evening. Pool table is a nice touch (although didn’t manage to get on it as it was always busy) as is the pizza ovens. Love the hotel staff uniforms!

Central location

Beds are so uncomfortable we felt like we were sliding off. I'd assume this is due to a memory foam topper. Lobby and rest of hotel is lovely and self serve shop is a great idea. Rooms are good sized and water and chocolate is a nice touch. Central location.
